Melbourne-based crowdfunding platform Pozible and digital distribution agency Ditto Music announced today the Friday Residency and After Party – a night of live performances, workshops, and networking opportunities for independent musicians, to be held at Pozible HQ in Collingwood on Friday the 13th of March, 5-9pm.

The event is completely free and aims to help local independents get a leg-up in self-promotion, distribution and fund raising.

“When you’re just starting out as an independent, everything is on you, and it’s really overwhelming,” said Pozible co-founder Alan Crabbe. “With the Residency, we wanted to give musicians a greater awareness of the digital tools already out there to help them.”

Pozible and Ditto will be conducting informal workshops on crowdfunding for music, band-promotion and digital distribution. “Everyone talks about how the Internet has made it much easier for new musicians, but that doesn’t mean it’s a free-for-all,” said Sarah Hamilton, Client Manager at Ditto. “There are very clear ways musicians can maximise their effectiveness and reach, and that’s what this Residency is going to be about.”

Among the night’s line-up will be performances by folk-pop artist Chris Watts and digital soulstress MOODIE, plus an after party. “It’s going to be super casual, with lots of opportunities to trade tips and have a real discussion about the challenges independents face,” said Sarah.

About the artists:

Chris Watts has been likened to Jake Bugg, San Cisco and First Aid Kit, with catchy riffs and a knack for writing excellent folk-pop. He has just released his debut film clip for the single Broken Bones, which was directed, funded and created entirely by Chris. He will be performing at 6pm.

MOODIE. is an electronic soul artist who creates atmospheric and inventive digital soul, with MoMo (producer – IAMMXO/Diafrix). She released her debut EP in 2014, along with a stunning debut film clip for her single Show Me. She will be bringing her soulful beats to the event at 7.30pm.
