Philly to Play Federation Square before Dreamtime at the G

Dreamtime at the G has become a Melbourne and Australian tradition, a huge AFL match between Essendon and Richmond that celebrates the contribution of indigenous athletes to the game of Australian Rules Football.

Hip Hop artist Phillip Murray (aka Philly) will be a part of the pre-match celebrations, performing to tens of thousands of fans and punters tomorrow, Saturday the 30th of May, at Federation Square in Melbourne, at 3pm.

The performance coincides with the release of his single Dreamchaser (Payback Records)and Reconciliation Week. Also performing will be indigenous veteran artist Archie Roach, before the Long Walk takes place where approximately 30 000 people will walk from Federation Square to the MCG.

Philly co-wrote Dreamchaser with hip-hop production duo Mike Justice & Ben Hense [Mau Power] aka Meridian Nights. The duo also recorded the track and the album at Beat Tank Studios in Melbourne [Underbelly soundtrack].

The accolades began to flow in 2010 when Philly won the National Noel Tovey Achievement Award and became Mildura’s NAIDOC Artist of the Year. He dreamed bigger dreams, signed with Payback Records, supported the Yung Warriors on their national tour [2011], and nationally with Briggs in 2014 & aims to perform in the US. He won triple j’s Unearthed NIMA Competition in 2014 earning him a performance slot alongside Briggs, Jimblah & The Last Kinection. “I feel like I’m dreaming,” he said on the night.

The following week his debut single We On shot to No.5 on iTunes Hip Hop chart and now; a year later – he releases Dreamchaser with an album titled Not My Life and a national tour to follow in September.
