It’s Our Aussie Anniversary
June 2, 2016
This week marks 3 years since Ditto Music opened its Melbourne office; let's call it our 'Aussieversary'. To celebrate, we have compiled some highlights of our time Down Under.
3 years ago, we arrived in Australia. Back then it was just Sarah Hamilton working away in the office on her lonesome, helping artists with distribution to online stores. Now, we have grown to 3 staff members and an intern, offer record label services like publicity and social media management and are about to launch the Aussie version of Record Label In A Box!
Along the way we have worked with some amazing people who also happen to be some of the best emerging artists Australia has to offer. Artists like Running Touch, UV Boi, Feki, Mosquito Coast, Juñor, Lastlings, The Jezabels and Alex Lahey, have all distributed with us, as well as Ditto alumni, Courtney Barnett, Ecca Vandal and Kllo. Here are a few snippets from the past 3 years.
Chris Watts and his band at his Vevo DSCVR taping with Sarah and Anthony.
Chris was one of our first Record Label Services clients and an all around nice guy! After premiering his ‘Broken Bones’ clip in Tone Deaf, Chris went on to be featured on the Vevo homepage, Vevo DSCVR and was in the top 4 of MTV’s Brand New for 2015. Keep watching this one.
We were so excited when Teen Vogue agreed to premiere Lucy’s video for ‘On My Own’ on their site along with an interview. From there, Lucy was on the up and up, also appearing on Vevo's DSCVR and #MUSTSEE. There's new music on the way from Lucy, so keep an ear out for that!
"Put your hand up if you like music." Sarah and Anthony workshopping at Pozible HQ
We partnered with Pozible for a workshop on crowd funding and digital distribution. With great tunes from Chris Watts and Moodie, some craft beer and nice wine, a great night was had by all.
Fed Square Live Series
We hosted a number of showcase events at Melbourne’s Federation Square over Summer featuring some of our up-and-coming acts including, Chris Watts, Alex Lahey, The Bean Project, Anabelle Kay, Jack Biilmann and our competition winner Demi Louise. Can't wait for summer to come around again for our next round of Ditto Presents Fed Square Live!
Conferences and Events
Poster from the 2015 In Tune conference featuring Ditto's Sarah Hamilton
We attended and spoke at a number of Music Industry conferences around the country including BIGSOUND, Face The Music and The Music NT Awards. Rubbing shoulders with some of the best in the industry and seeing some amazing speakers and artists.
‘I Am Indie’ Competition With 301
Sarah catching up with the crew from Studios 301
More recently, we partnered with Studios 301 for our ‘I Am Indie’ competition. We were inundated with entries and a big congratulations goes out to our winners, Phantastic Ferniture!
Yo Preston Goes Gold In Aus
We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the Ditto-distributed and UK-based, Yo Preston, had gone Gold in Australia with 35,000 sales of his viral single, ‘Love Yourself Vs F*ck Yourself’.
Alex Lahey is poised to take on the world! It's been a huge week for Alex, premiering her new single, 'Let's Go out', on Triple J and Pitchfork proclaiming her previous single, "You Don't Think Your Like People Like Me', as their 'Best new track'. We're sure you've heard her on Triple J and we're hoping she makes a huge impression on the next Hottest 100 countdown!
We want to thank each and every one of our Aussie artists choosing Ditto Music to release your singles, albums and videos. We could not be more proud of all your achievements and can’t wait to see what the next 3 years brings!
