How to increase your chances of getting verified on Twitter

While these simple steps show you how to get verified on Twitter, there is no guarantee that you’ll be accepted. Here are some tips to increase your chances of securing a blue tick.

- Be as active as possible on Twitter. Make sure you’re engaging with your followers and posting regularly to show Twitter you’re an avid user.

- Embed a ‘Follow’ button on your website, so visitors can follow you directly from your site.

- Have a relevant and current cover photo. For example, as a musician, a photo of you performing live, or a recent album cover shows you are an active artist.

- Submit more than the minimum of two links when applying for your blue tick. The more links, the better, and ideally you’ll want to provide five. If you're a musician currently releasing music on Spotify and other online platforms, a link to this can also work in your favour.

- In your 500-word pitch, rather than simply saying how great you are, explain how verification would not only benefit you, but other Twitter users too. For example, are you being confused with another similarly named artist? Are your fans having trouble finding you? These are excellent reasons for verification.

Twitter also offers some advice on what you should do before applying for verification, which you'll find here. Unfortunately, not everyone who applies will receive a sought-after blue tick, but with applications open to everyone, you stand a better chance than ever before. Good luck!
