Dream In Colour Kidz Making Waves
August 28, 2015
Dream In Colour Kidz release a killer debut self-titled album D.I.C.K, and one of the year’s best merch tee’s that should fit nicely into your wardrobe.
It’s been a hard road for the Melbourne lads Dream In Colour Kidz, dealing with homelessness and broken bones while still recording their self-produced, self-titled debut. 6 months down the line their first release hit all major online stores through the team here at Ditto, July 12.
The result? A sweet sounding surf punk album that’s been described by Triple J Unearthed’s Dave Ruby Howe as ‘Herky Jerky Gutter Dwelling Punk’, a phrase that the lads believe sums their sound up perfectly. D.I.C.K also recieved a Beat Magazine 'Album of the Week' review in which the album was described as 'a debut record that rocks with the might of Poseidon'.
After giving the album a spin here at the Ditto office we have to say, it’s a hell of a good listen. After a rousing solo acoustic intro, Aus-office favourite, Pain and Ice Cream, takes you to a hardcore pop-surf-punk inspired happy place.
There’s plenty of social commentary to sink your teeth into with alien abductions, goon bags and media lies all being covered. And what’s a great surf-punk album without a track dedicated to skateboarding? The boys certainly don’t disappoint, grab the album via the bands website, or have a listen on Spotify, ITunes or Bandcamp.
The boys also have their merch covered! If you are looking for some spring t-shirt options then head over to the Dream In Colour Kidz website to pick up a sweet D.I.C.K branded ‘Not My Leader’ tee featuring our very own Prime Minister on the front! Caution though, not safe for the office! Very nice work lads!
