Ditto Music's Artists Of The Month

Drop Out Venus
Drop Out Venus released their debut mini-album Be Brave last year as they attempt to raise funds for a debut full length proper. It appears that they may have underestimated the strengths of the songs they already had, as Be Brave felt like one of the most accomplished debut albums in years.

Superhumanoids are another band from the excellent White Iris Records. With Guards, Oberhofer and now these guys, the Brooklyn label are churning out some of the finest new music of the year and we are delighted to be a part of it. The four-piece from L.A combine sunny sixties harmonies with the expansive dream pop of m83 to devastating effect. Single Mikelah demonstrates the bands ability to make a busy and expansive soundscape sound personal and intimate, with simple and warm melodies that will linger in your head long after the song has finished. Their double a-sideMikelah / A Crowded Hour is available on all major download / streaming platforms now.

Mic Righteous
Mic Righteous is spearheading a thriving UK urban music scene at the moment. Landing a spot on Radio 1 Xtra’s Ones To Watch 2013 has only added to the hype that surrounds this 22 year old from Margate. Having spent the last year supporting the likes of The Game, J- Cole and Mos Def, as well as appearing on the official remixes for Ed Sheeran and Emily Sande singles, Mic found himself in the prestigious Radio 1 Live lounge last week, as he found the national recognition he surely deserves.

Saturday Night Gym Club

This Anglo-Irish collection of multi-instrumentalists has had quite a year. Their innovative brand of quirky synth-pop has turned heads both sides of the channel, making them one of our most critically acclaimed artists of 2012. Drawing as much from the UK bass scene as it does from US euphoria merchants m83, their debut ‘How To Build a Life Raft’ will see as many run to the dancefloor as those withdrawing to their headphones.

The Wicked Whispers

The Wicked Whispers are a psychedelic folk band based here in Liverpool. Emulating the offbeat quirkiness of early Young Knives, The Wicked Whispers manage to maintain that psychedelic sound whilst creating brilliant pop songs, making them one of Liverpool’s most exciting new bands right now.

Coffee and Cakes For Funerals

Coffee and Cakes For Funerals are a four-piece R’n’B act based here in Liverpool. With rich, smooth vocals rivalling current R’n’B pioneer The Weeknd, CACFF have been disarming audiences up here in the North East since their formation in 2011. The foursome have became a household name in 2012, culminating in a devastating set at last years Liverpool Sound City festival, raising eyebrows in both local and national press.

Married To The Sea

Based here in Liverpool, this four-piece have been impressing with some of the finest pop-rock melodies we’ve heard all year. The excellent EP ‘Pack Xerxes’ has been a mainstay on our office stereo, with lead track ‘Mutiny’ landing a much deserved placement on Gossip girl late last year.

With new EP ‘Rushing Roulette’ out at the end of this month, this electro pop trio look set to make the leap from local to national heroes in 2013. Already tipped by national radio and The NME, Triphazzard inevitable ascent this year will be well deserved for of one of the hardest working bands we know.
