Ditto Music Staff Picks (22nd May)
May 22, 2012
There is an abundance of good new music at the moment and here at Ditto Music we are lucky enough to hear a lot of it first.
We hope you've enjoyed reading about all our staff picks as much as we’ve enjoyed choosing them. Please keep tweeting/facebooking us your new stuff. We love having new music to listen to in the office and we have enough of it on Ditto to last a lifetime.

Oberhofer are an alternative band based in Brooklyn, New York. With memorable hooks drenched in in fuzzy low-fi guitar, Oberhofer have deservedly shot into critical and commercial prominence this year. They were features on the Guardian’s New Band of the Day and landed reviews in the likes of Pitchfork and The NME, capping it all off with a performance on the David Letterman show last night. We are delighted to be distributing the UK and European version of 2011’s double a-side ‘Gotta Go / Mahwun’. Get yourself outside and wrap your ears around two of the best songs you’ll hear all summer.

Lifelines is a producer and rapper from West London. His hugely anticipated sophomore EP One Hope came out this week, featuring collaborations with Odd Child's Etta Bond, Shakka, SWV and many more. Mixed by Maybach Music’s DJ Scream, One Hope sees Lifelines sounding as exciting and off-centre as ever, as each track is delivered a confidence and assurance that many artists spend careers pursuing. Head over to his official website where you can stream first EP i>One Love and download the new EP for free!

Maisie-Mae is a young singer-songwriter from Milkin Nook, Cambridgeshire. At just fifteen years old, Maisie has received more hype and more buzz than musicians double her age. Frank Turner, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing have all heaped praise on her and it’s easy to see why. Her angelic vocals and minimal folk accompaniment hide deceptively dark lyrics about loneliness and disillusionment, delivered with insight far beyond her age. The Plight EP is out on iTunes now.

Staden are a hip/hop duo from Sweden. Now in their second year, the duo consists of rappers Pat Dice and Kimbo. Staden have a number of releases through Ditto Music, each one emphasising why they are one of our favourite Scandinavian artists. Their latest single Där vi växte upp came out on Reflection Music yesterday and looks set to elevate the criminally underrated duo to the next level.
