“Another office, another boss, another dream they’re selling off. You’re seduced by shiny shoes, you’ll be a star, you’ll go far, just forget about who you are”.
The lyrics to 'Pathways', which was written about the struggles of a musician trying to 'make it' in the Music Industry today. These beautifully formed, but powerful lyrics are from Northampton's Billy Lockett. He describes his music as “feel good, acoustic indie with a hard edge”, which defiantly fits as you get a blend of his charming vocals and music balanced with strong storytelling of life's personal battles. Influenced by Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Tracy Chapman, you certainly see his clear direction and style.
Billy was offered to audition on The Voice UK a few years ago, but turned it down saying that it wasn't for him as he believes you “can’t compare a sheep to a cow”. Yet to be signed to a record label, Billy has been doing great yards on his own, with releasing his own music, touring around with the likes of Lana Del Rey, Nina Nesbitt and KT Tunstall and appearances on the mighty Jools Holland Show and Radio 1 Live Lounge. “If I can keep hitting the top fifty or higher with self-releases then at the moment I don’t feel I need a label.”
Billy has just released his third independent EP, 'Old Man' on the 28th of September and will be setting out on a tour of the UK and Ireland this October/November finishing up at The Tabernacle in London on the 6th of November. Grab his music on all major online music platforms including iTunes and Spotify.

Joe Miles Second EP 'Liars, Lightweights & Chancers' drops on 24th September 2014
Independent artist and singer/songwriter Joe Miles is releasing his second EP 'Liars, Lightweights & Chancers' on the 24th September. Miles, who is the grandson of jazz legend Terry Lightfoot and son of singer, Melinda Lightfoot, collaborates with Amy Wadge, known for her work with Ed Sheeran and Lewis Watson.
LONDON, UK: Singer, songwriter & performer, Joe Miles is to release his second EP 'Liars, Lightweights & Chancers' on the 24th September 2014. The artist has impressive musical roots, as he is the grandson of British jazz legend Terry Lightfoot and son of singer Melinda Lightfoot. To make his credentials even more impressive, Miles collaborates with prolific songwriter Amy Wadge on the EP, who has worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Lewis Watson.
Joe Miles’ second offering, is a fresh and vibrant groove. His Jamie Cullum and Maroon 5 influences are obvious, particular on the opening track 'Giving It Up'. It is groove based and the hook immediately grabs your attention, causing you to stop and listen to the song. Miles’ vocals blend seamlessly into the groove and the sax solo brings the record to life. The track is a mix of samples and live instruments. It is a perfect opening track for the EP.
'Not That Way' is stripped back, when compared to the opening track. It features subtle electric and acoustic guitar playing and Joe's vocal has an honest, sincere quality. It is based on his experiences with relationships. Despite the negative connotation, the song retains a happier vibe, as the positive element is evident.
The final track 'Words', once again reflects Joe's experiences. This time he sings about making situations worse, when trying to explain your actions. The song can be said to be a fusion of styles from the first two tracks in terms of instrumentation. Throughout the track, Joe's vocals perfectly reflect the feelings of resignation that emerge in this type of situation.
This EP is the second collaboration between the talented Amy Wadge and Joe Miles. They first came together on the EP 'This Game', where Joe recorded a track written by Amy. This new EP represents a natural development of the partnership.
'Liars, Lightweights & Chancers' is released on the 24th September 2014. It is available right now on iTunes.

From a factory floor to the bright lights of Television, Melbourne's Jaymie Deboucherville is now following his dream in music. Jaymie once worked in a factory packing and transporting steel, but then decided to audition for Channel Seven's The X Factor, singing Oasis's 'Wonderwall'.Instantly wowing judges and the crowd, especially the ladies!
This was the break the 21 year old needed to be able to focus on his music, saying that if it wasn't for his step father showing him music and handing him a guitar at five year old, he would still be working away in a factory. Jaymie use to crave for the weekend where he could go out and perform his music at local bars and pubs, saying that “what got me through the week was knowing I had my music, building a space for people to lose themselves, myself included”. Using music as an escape and vehicle to sanity.
Jaymie draws influences from Dallas Green, Mark Wilkinson and Justin Nozuka, which you can hear in his writing. His voice is both raw and unique, sounding very distinctive, even turning the classic 'Wonderwall' into something completely new. His debut single, released on the 18th of September, 'Trouble' shows his beautiful but strong vocals and song writing to match. Now with the help of his new fan base, Jaymie is often playing gigs around Melbourne's music scene. Having the foundations already there, Jaymie will only grow as a musician, so expect big things from him.
